The Trust has supported many initiatives to boost the island’s economy and prevent depopulation, including a wind-powered renewable energy project. Fair Isle is a birdwatcher’s paradise, ideal for studying seabirds and migrating rarities blown here seeking shelter. Other visitors come for the unusual flora and fauna, archaeology, spectacular cliff scenery and traditional crofting practices.

The Trust, in partnership with the islanders and the Bird Observatory, is currently working on an important marine protection project.
