Hill House prepares for Christmas cheer
Argyll and Bute families can kick off the festive season in style with exciting events at the National Trust for Scotland’s Hill House over the coming weeks.
On the weekend beginning Saturday 28 November, the property will reopen especially for Christmas, giving visitors having the chance to see Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s masterpiece of domestic design work decorated for the festive season.
Children will be entertained with Christmas stories in Mr Blackie’s library and a special puppet and stocking making workshop, while adults enjoy music from a variety of local groups.
On Friday 4 December, the house will be filled with Christmas carols concert. In the modernist grandeur of the property, visitors will be able to unwind with complementary wine and nibbles as they listen to the sounds of festive cheer.
Then, on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December, Santa Claus himself will be resident in his grotto at lunchtime both days, ready to meet all the good girls and boys.
The house’s shops and tearoom will be open throughout both weekends.
The weekend events run from 11:00 to 16:30 on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November and Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December, with Santa’s Grotto open from 12:00 to 14:00 on the second weekend. While the events are free, donations are appreciated.
The carol concert starts at 19:30 and costs £6. Booking is essential - call 0844 493 2208.
