Kate Thomson and her husband Kata have recently moved back to Scotland after living and working in Japan for twenty years. Both have exhibited widely in Japan and Europe and are looking forward to seeing their work displayed against the backdrop of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s iconic Hill House. Kate has said the property is, “an ideal space to illustrate the Scottish and Japanese cultural and aesthetic contexts and that in turn, she and Kata’s contemporary sculpture will highlight how the Mackintosh’s architecture retains its innovative beauty and is still relevant to the modern world”.

Scotland’s Gardens scheme Plant Sale is held in the garden of the Hill House. The gardens continue to be restored to the patron’s planting scheme with many features which reflect Mackintosh’s design.
