The Camera Obscura is run by the National Trust for Scotland on behalf of Angus Council. The Cricket Pavillion, in which it is housed, was gifted by JM Barrie to the people of Kirriemuir. The Camera Obscura, which gives a clear 360 degree view of the surrounding area up to 70 miles away on a clear day, was his gift to the children. In this day and age it is still a fascination for visitors of all ages, but especially young visitors.

School visits are welcome by appointment. Please contact JM Barrie's Birthplace on 01575 572646 or the Area Manager on 01674 810264. Pupils will be split into smaller groups with a maximum of 8 due to the small viewing area. In poor weather the Camera may not be operational.
