The junior run precedes a half marathon – now an annual fixture at Crathes – and takes place on Saturday 15 September. The route begins on the lawn beside the ‘fairytale-like’ castle and will take young competitors out over two miles of country roads within the estate grounds.
The Property Manager at Crathes, Gareth Clingan said:
“We have a record number of entrants for the half marathon, which is really putting Crathes on the sporting map.
“However, I’m sorry to say that we have a shortfall of numbers for the junior run. Given all the inspiring sights we have seen in both the Olympics and Paralympics in recent weeks, I hope young people from Aberdeenshire and further afield answer the call and come running to show us old folks how it should be done.”
This is the first ever junior run held at Crathes and it is sponsored by Aker Solutions. It begins at 11.00 am on 15 September.
All competitors receive a t-shirt, and everyone finishing will be given a medal. All the money raised from entry fees will go to the good cause of supporting the Trust’s valuable conservation work.
