Support Scotland's heritage - give now to the National Trust for Scotland

£
Schools > Free Resources
The Trust offers a range of learning resources for teachers. These are designed to complement visits to National Trust for Scotland sites. A site visit offers pupils a unique experience that encourages active learning and allows them to see or work with primary sources.

We realise that not everyone can visit our places, however. Many of the resources can be used without a visit, for classroom and course work.

All Teachers' Resources are compatible with the Curriculum for Excellence.

PLEASE NOTE: Bannockburn is now closed to schools while the new Visitor Centre is being built. For more information about this exciting project, click here. For information about the Bannockburn schools outreach programme, click here.

Teachers' Packs
Support material for visits to specific Trust sites - including background information and pupils' activities.

These packs span key areas of Scottish history: Falkland Palace (1500s); Mary Queen of Scots (1500s); Gladstone’s Land (1600s/merchants); the Georgian House (Georgian); Pollok House (Victorian); Weaver's Cottage (Victorian/cottage industry); Moirlanich Longhouse (early 20th century/farm life).

Select which Teacher's Pack you would like to download from the choices below and click 'download'.

School Programmes
In-depth studies based on projects with schools. They contain historical and practical information plus ideas for pupils' activities.

Click ‘visit’ to see these web-based packs. You can then select and download pdfs.

Conflict of Choice

Designed to act as a springboard for lessons. Conflict of Choice complements school visits to Trust sites connected to warfare. This is a Powerpoint presentation which aims to prompt classroom debate on how individuals get caught up in conflict. Each of the 10 themes provide 2 points of view – your pupils make their own choices.

It is a free download for schools but remains the copyright of the National Trust for Scotland.
