The National Trust
for Scotland has been acquiring heritage gardens in Scotland for
many years. 2005 was the 60th anniversary of the Trust`s first garden
acquisition when it accepted the great estates of Culzean Castle
and Leith Hall in 1945. The Timeline below shows the chronology
of the acquisition of NTS garden properties, though in some cases
the dates given preceed those of legal acquisition (when title deeds/bequests
legally completed) by a couple of years. Click

The acquisition of the following properties
by the NTS is listed here for completeness, but whilst they do
now contain excellent gardens, these were not present at the time
of acquisition and have since been created, or acquired, by the
NTS subsequent to the purchase of the property.
