This is a major cause of erosion on Scotland's mountains. The result is a scarred, barren landscape as fragile vegetation and exposed soil are simply washed away. We need your help to act now.
You can help by making a gift to The Footpath Fund, which is dedicated to mountain conservation through path repair. The Fund supports two dedicated teams - the Mountains for People project and the Mountain Path Management Team. They brave every weather condition all year round to halt the effects of erosion. Download Footprints newsletter to read all about their challenges and achievements.
We need to raise £110,000 this year to carry out vital repairs - will you help us?
Your gift could buy:
- £18 will buy 3 single-use helicopter bags so we can fly materials to remote sites
- £35 will pay for 1 metre of path to be maintained using 'light-touch' non-intrusive techniques
- £150 will pay for 1 metre of path to be hand-built in native Scottish stone
- £200 will help get a water supply to remote locations so the restoration work can begin
- £700 will buy 1 hour of helicopter flying time to get vital materials and supplies to remote locations
Our charity cares for some of Scotland's finest mountain landscapes: Ben Lomond, Ben Lawers, Grey Mare's Tail, Torridon, Kintail and West Affric, Goatfell, Glencoe and Mar Lodge Estate. These awe-inspiring mountains are loved by so many, yet they are cared for by so few.
Please help us protect Scotland's mountains.
