“Hidden Stories”: Creative Writing Workshop for Adults

    Sunday 14 December 2008
“Hidden Stories”: Creative Writing Workshop for Adults
Get started on that story full of intrigue, emotion and interest inspired by fragments of Culloden’s history! ... More>
Lead by Lilian Ross, you will be plucked from the fast pace of modern life to a time when the country was in turmoil. These creative writing workshops offer you a unique opportunity to get started on historic stories full of intrigue, emotion and interest inspired by fragments of history found on Culloden Battlefield.

Aimed at writing novices, we will begin with a warm up exercise to get those creative juices flowing. Thereafter, we will explore which artefact inspires you and discuss a story frame and the key characters to build your story round.

By the end of the workshop you should have the “bones” of what could be the winning entry into our short story creative writing competition, “Hidden Stories”.

The word limit for the competition is 1500 and the submission deadline is February 21 2009 (the anniversary of the day the Jacobites took the Old Fort George in Inverness).

Lilian Ross is a local storyteller registered with the Scottish Book Trust and the Scottish Storytelling Centre Edinburgh and she is also a singer of Scots songs and ballads.

    Limited to 25 places.
