    Play golf the traditional way at Hill of Tarvit.

    Golf at Hill of Tarvit re-establishes the thrill of the game 100 years ago with hickory shafts and softer golf balls. The more gentle sport is rekindled in the most beautiful of Scottish settings.

    Reservations can be made for the 1st tee every 15 minutes starting at 9am and finishing at 5pm. From the beginning of October the last bookable tee-time is 4pm. Where play is requested outside these times we will do our best to make it possible.

    Players will be provided with a minimum of 5 original hickory clubs, an original canvass and leather bag, together with balls and tees that represent the early 20th century golfing experience.

    Friday 27 June 2008 - Sunday 2 November 2008

    Times:
    9am-5pm June to September, 9am-4pm October and November

    Price:
    The current price of a round is £35. In the event that the tee is available and time allows, a second 9 holes can be played for £15 on the same day.

    Discover what life for Robert the Bruce was really like!

    Learn about medieval society and find out how people of the era lived and fought for independence. Examine replica medieval clothing, armour, weaponry and siege equipment.

    Interview a medieval knight or foot soldier from the time, or come face-to-face with Robert the Bruce.

    Let one of our experienced costumed guides escort you around the Borestone and explain the events of the Battle of Bannockburn.

    Special events include a chance to meet the experts - chat to our resident Medieval historian and author Dr Chris Brown (dates to be confirmed).

    Please note that activities vary daily.

    Lasting Impressions: The National Trust for Scotland and the Printed Word features exhibits from Robert Smail’s Printing Works at Innerleithen and literary treasures from our collections.

    There will also be hands-on activities and a series of lunchtime talks on the history and practice of printing.

    Artists from Borders Sculptors collective will be exhibiting an eclectic mix of work around the garden, this is the first time the group has shown at Inverewe. ... More>
    Visitors will see among the exhibits Charles Poulsen’s lead clad tree limbs, Sam Wade’s kinetic structures in metal and coloured Perspex and new work by Jane Gaze referencing the activities in Loch Ewe during World War 2.

    The group is pleased to have Ettie Spencer as their guest artist for the exhibition, her work “disPlaced” has particular resonance, she uses immigrant plant species as a metaphor for human displacement in contemporary society, and it has previously been exhibited in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. Her current project “Tobacco House” will be shown during this years Edinburgh Festival.
