    Whisky Tasting with John Clotworthy

    Sat 1 May
    Brodie Castle
Enjoy a malt from four different Speyside distilleries and a rare opportunity to taste samples from Loch Ewe distillery.

John Clotworthy, a Scottish Licensed Trade Association whisky ambassador, presents an afternoon whisky tasting featuring Speyside malts, plus the opportunity to sample “Loch Ewe Uisge Beatha” – the water of life, and “Spirit of Loch Ewe” both produced at his own distillery.

John, with his partner Frances Oates, is based at Drumchork Lodge Hotel at Aultbea, which boasts a selection of over 700 single malts in the bar. In 2004 John opened Loch Ewe distillery, the smallest distillery in Scotland and the only one to use a 40-gallon pot still, employing the methods once used by illicit distillers in the Highlands.

A renowned whisky expert and born raconteur, John will present an entertaining afternoon and will have on display one of the small copper pot stills as used at Loch Ewe distillery.

Accompanied by a selection of Highland oatcakes from MacLean’s Highland Bakery, sample range of Speyside malts including Benriach, Benromach and Glen Moray. You will also be able to experience John’s own Spirit of Loch Ewe whisky and Uisge Beatha.

The only true Uisge Beatha distilled in Scotland in an illicit sized still, this a smooth, clear, palatable liquid ready to drink immediately, unlike whisky from larger stills which require time to mature

Whisky Tasting £25 Per person (over 18s only).
