The Ardess Hidden History Trail
Dates between : Wed 17 Jul - Sun 8 Sep
Discover the hidden archaeological traces of life in past times on east Loch Lomondside. These low-level, ranger-guided archaeology walks are suitable for the whole family, and give an opportunity to delve into the history of the Rowardennan area.
See traces of some of the past lives and activities that have taken place on the lower slopes of Ben Lomond.
View progress on our example of a cruck frame building - the sort of building in widespread use up to the mid 1700's - which is being built at the start of the history trail with volunteer help.
The trail passes through a pleasant mix of old and young natural woodland, with great views over Loch Lomond and the surrounding hills. The trail covers 1.5km of woodland path, rough and steep in places but all at low level.
