Culloden - Learning

Managing your visit

If NTS Learning staff are available, they will help you and your class investigate the exhibition. If they are not, the following tour notes will help you and your pupils in the Centre. Teachers will have different reasons for visiting the centre with their classes. Ideally pupils will have their own mission to collect evidence on particular topics. Other teachers will be looking for the exhibition to help pupils understand the story of the ’45. If possible, try and allow time for both whole grouop and individual exploration.

Highlights and suggested discussion points for twelve stages of the exhibition have been picked out and can be seen by clicking any of the links below. We suggest that you choose only four or five areas of most interest and relevance to your pupils., perhaps following a pre-visit. Ideally, split your class into groups of 5-10, so that pupils can see objects on display clearly and to increase promote effective contribution. Text from each threshold panel is reproduced below, by way of an introduction to each section.
