Booking a visit

There are many options for you and your class when you visit the Culloden Battlefield. These notes explain what options are available, how to make a booking and how to get the most out of your visit with your class.

When planning your visit, try and involve your pupils in the process. They can take part in the planning of the visit itself – looking up the Culloden website, emailing staff with questions in advance, setting broad research questions (What is the battlefield like? Why did the Jacobites lose the battle? Where can we find evidence about what happened at the battle? Who can help us find out more about the two armies?). Activities such as these place responsibility for learning with the pupils themselves and help them to develop into successful, responsible learners.
