In Sweden we will visit Gothenburg, with its rich diversity of culture and architecture, as well as the historic port of Kalmar. Danish ports will be Rønne, capital of the island of Bornholm, and Århus on the Jutland peninsula, an important Viking trading centre. We will also call at Oslo, the oldest of the Scandinavian capitals and a pleasant jumble of old and new architecture. As well as the ancient seacoast city of Tallinn, we will visit the Estonian island of Saaremaa with rich flora and fauna, including rare butterflies and orchids. Another treat on our exploration of the lesser-known Baltic islands are the enchanting Åland Islands and town of Mariehamn. We will spend two days in St Petersburg to explore the city and Hermitage Gallery, visit the Tsars’ summer residences and take a trip to the world-famous ballet.

Lecturers
Our lecturers will include geographer Professor Roger Crofts, poet Kenneth Steven, and art historian Dr Duncan Thomson.

Artistes
Our entertainment team includes ‘first lady of Scottish song’ Sheena Wellington, ‘Scotland the What?’ entertainer George Donald, violinist and fiddler Claire Telford, The Rhona MacKay trio of harp, flute and cello, and singers Linda Ormiston and Jim Nicol.
