TRAINING
Culzean Workshop
Since 1991, the National Trust for Scotland
has operated a stonemasonry workshop at Culzean
Castle. The aim of these workshops is to carry out repairs
to the fabric of Culzean and other Trust sites using traditional
methods, to produce lime mortars for use within the Trust, and
to train stonemasons within the framework of a traditional craft
apprenticeship.
This apprenticeship takes fours years to complete
and includes attendance at college as well as extensive practical
experience.
