Patron, President and Vice-Presidents

Find out more about our Patron, President and Vice-Presidents.

Patron

The Patron of the National Trust for Scotland is the former Duke of Rothesay.

His Royal Highness takes a close interest in the Trust’s responsibilities, from our work to protect traditional buildings, to growing beautiful gardens and stewarding our countryside places.

He marked the Trust’s 90th anniversary in the spring 2021 edition of the Trust’s magazine with a special message to our members and, in September 2021, renewed his Patronage of the Trust. That same month, along with Her Royal Highness, the former Duchess of Rothesay, he visited Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway and a few days later he formally opened the Dr Sheila Bain Courtyard at House of Dun near Montrose.

President

The President of the National Trust for Scotland is Jackie Bird.

The Trust’s first female president, Jackie has long been a thoughtful and committed friend to the Trust, recently hosting our acclaimed series of Love Scotland podcasts. Her deep interest in Scotland’s heritage, and her skills at communicating that, will be a huge asset to the Trust.

Jackie herself says: ‘More than ever, I know the importance of the Trust’s work to all parts of Scotland and to all generations who live or visit here. I’m absolutely committed to, and excited about, using my role as President to communicate that importance to different audiences, and I’m flattered to have the opportunity to do so.’
