Burns merchandise - supporting the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum |
 |
|
Developed exclusively in partnership with the National Trust for Scotland, these ranges from
Johnstons of Elgin and Ortak celebrate the 250th anniversary of Burns’ birth. For every item
purchased Johnstons and Ortak will make a donation to the Put on a Pound for Rabbie appeal,
supporting the creation of the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway.
The Anniversary Check
The tartan has been produced by Johnstons to celebrate not only this anniversary, but also the homecoming of Scots from around the world.
The colours in the check have been carefully selected to remind us of the places and people for which Burns expressed his love in poetry - ‘the red, red rose’ ‘the crystal stream’ ‘the amber bead’ ‘the blue eyes lassie’ ‘green grow and rashes’ ‘the hodden grey’
To maintain a link with the past, the hodden grey and soft green which were part of the original Burns Check which was designed to celebrate Burns’ bicentenary in 1959 have been incorporated in the central repeat of this pattern.

Burns Jewellery
Ortak has designed a range of jewellery to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Robert Burns.
The designs are inspired by the one of Burns' most famous poems, My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose, written in 1794.
The designs are produced in 925 Sterling Silver and the rose is brought to life with the addition of red cold enamel.
The heart motifs have Celtic detail, which is in keeping with our Ortak roots, and signifies Eternal Love and Life.
Each piece is presented in a black lacquer box and is accompanied by a history card.
