| The National Trust for Scotland could not operate without the financial support we receive from our generous donors. Very few of our properties are able to financially sustain themselves through visitor or endowment income alone. Therefore, there are enormous demands on our general funds to ensure that our properties are kept maintained, accessible and attractive for visitors.
We have to carefully priortise work to undertake vital maintenance so less essential works have to wait. That is why general fund donations in particular are so valuable because we can apply them where the need is greatest.
We love to hear about why properties are special to our supporters and we are very grateful for the donations we receive for specific purposes.
Every year we receive thousands of donations through our appeals or simply because someone has decided to send us a gift or chosen to leave us a legacy. We are sorry we only have space here to acknowledge gifts over £5,000. For the very many smaller donations we receive we are immensely grateful and we thank everyone who has supported the Trust, including those who choose to remain anonymous.
